You should be reading our newsletter (oh wait, you are, thank you), join our world famous Piano Forums, host and/or attend a piano party, share your love of piano with others, keep your piano(s) tuned and maintained, support others who want to learn, tell hotels and restaurants you’d like to see/hear live piano players, … I’m betting some of you can easily add to the list above, feel free to send me your suggestions. frank@pianoworld.com ![]() Please take the time to poke around all of our forums (there are several), you never know what you might discover. And don’t forget to visit the rest of Piano World, there’s a lot to see besides the forums on the main part of our site (PianoWorld.com). We also have a piano recitals area (recitals.pianoworld.com) and an online store full of fun and interesting products for the music lover (PianoSupplies.com). I’m your host, Frank Baxter (more below) and I hope you enjoy your time here and that you’ll invite your friends. ![]() My name is Frank Baxter, I live in Cornish Maine with my two dogs and my grand piano. Recently bought a 9 bedroom house, long story which I won’t bore you with (did I mention it’s haunted?). I will tell you I plan to open a small music shop in the front of the house (it has 16 rooms total, plus a barn and is located in a historic/commercial district in a quaint town with lots of wonderful small locally owned shops) and do some Air BNB, so if you find yourself coming to southwest Maine :-). I hope eventually to find a new partner to help me with the house, the business, and raising the kids (aka my dogs ๐ One of the things I like about owning a house built in 1850 is that antiques seem appropriate and I love well made furniture from the past. It’s clearly much more house than I need but the price was right and I hope to bring in some revenue once I get the music shop open and a couple of rooms ready to rent. This is one of the pieces I picked up for the house (got it free, right within my budget). If you have any interest in learning more about Piano World and/or your host, please visit our About Us page. First let me explain, when I started Piano World over twenty years ago it was a hobby. Thanks to our rankings in the search engines and new people joining our forums every day we were able to sell advertising to companies in the piano business including dealers, tuners, teachers, movers, and manufacturers. Piano World kept growing eventually becoming my primary job. But the piano business in the U.S. has been on the decline causing advertisers to tighten their budgets. Even though we continue to be one of the most popular destinations for piano in the world and ad new members every day, our advertising revenue is down. I spend over $6500 a year just on hosting fees, that doesn’t include when I have to hire programmers to help, or the cost of hosting our online store. Point being keeping Piano World and the Forums going isn’t cheap so I could use your help. ![]() Please consider purchasing from our online store PianoSupplies.com, or if you are professional in the piano industry, you should be advertising on the world’s most popular piano site, Piano World. If you live in southwest Maine or southeast New Hampshire and need your piano tuned… I’m available And A big thank you to all the other wonderful people who have made a donation and/or become a subscribing member of our forums. If you you’d like to show your support some other way, please visit our Support page. Keep in mind one of the best ways you can help is to spread the word about Piano World and the Piano Forums. Tell your friends, co-workers, relatives, etc. And especially suggest to piano related businesses (teachers, tuners, movers, dealers/stores, etc.) that they should be advertising on the worlds’s most popular piano site! And if you know someone in the southwest Maine or southeast New Hampshire area, tell them you know a really good piano tuner (me). Frank Baxter – Piano Tuner-Technician 95,772 Members! As of 29 January 2020 we reached 95,772* registered member mark on our world famous Piano Forums! I’m very excited that we continue to attract new members from around the world. Welcome to all our new/recent members. Please remember to invite your friends to join. More about our forums later in this newsletter. (* For those who might be wondering, the 95,772 does not include anyone who has chosen to close their account or have been banned). And we’re closing in on another milestone, approaching the 3 million post mark! (that’s a lot of piano & keyboard talk) 15th Adilia Alieva International Music Competition in France and Switzerland. The competition will take place in Annemasse / France and Geneva / Switzerland from May 11th to May 15th 2020. 15th Adilia Alieva International Music Competition Come on folks, I’m sure there are plenty more competitions and concerts happening. I’d appreciate it if you would either post about them, or send me a note. Remember, if you know of any piano concerts, competitions, or events … let us know! You can post in this section of the piano forums (and/or email us). Don’t forget to keep an eye on the forum below for news of upcoming concerts, competitions, and special (piano) events. Piano Concerts – Competitions – Events A local library near where I live (I’m in southwest Maine) has a free lending program for kids interested in learning to play a musical instrument. Currently they have only string instruments, kindly and generously provided by Friendly River Music in Hiram Maine (www.friendlyrivermusic.com/. I told them I would try to help them procure some keyboard instruments through Piano World. So if you happen to have one kicking around doing nothing (preferably full keyboard and weighted keys if possible) let me know. Depending on what it would cost to get it here I may sponsor a couple of them. Drop me a line, frank@pianoworld.com ![]() Some day I’ll post an entire story with tons of pictures. This picture was from a tuning I did just a couple of days ago. My first time at this house. The house was way down a dirt road, there were four dogs, two cats, and a ferret. The littlest dog (Riley) is a Havanese, like my Kirby. The big golden one on the left kept trying to climb into my lap and give me kisses while I was tuning. Luckily I love animals, especially dogs. The Piano Forums on Piano World are not just one forum, there are in fact several, each with a specific targeted audience in mind. The following is a brief description of our most popular forums.

And yes, I plan to host some at my new (to me) house in Cornish Maine, I’m pretty sure one of our members in Old Orchard Beach (Maine) will be hosting at least one. Check out the links above, and this forum Forum Members Parties, Tours, Cruises, & Meetings Also, see this Collection of Piano Parties and Tours compiled by one of our moderators (thank you Casinitaly). We now have a special sub-forum under the Piano Forum specifically as a place for posts about members getting a new (to them) piano. I love reading the threads posted by members who have finally purchased their piano. Seeing the pictures and hearing the stories reminds me of one of the most important reasons we are here, to help each other. And if you’ve found Piano World and/or the Forums to be helpful, we’d love to know that too. Unfortunately these posts get buried quickly as new threads get created. If you recently got a piano, or you know of a thread where someone is talking about getting their new piano, please let me know. I’d love to move the threads to this one central place for all to share in the joy of owning and playing a piano. The New Piano Owners forum lives here , right under the primary Piano Forum. ![]() Organ Repair Vintage Hammond and Leslie Specialist Repair or Rebuild – To Sound your Best Sales – Service Pleasant Mount, Pa. 18453 570-960-1018 / 570-679-2715 www.tonewheeltech.com Have you visited our online store for music lovers?
